My 24th Birthday

This week I celebrated my 24th birthday. I must admit that birthdays are not quite the hype they used to be for me. I'm not one of those people who goes around telling everyone that it's my birthday or really making a big deal about it at all. So when Jessica e-mailed me the day before asking what I was doing and what I wanted to do I really didn't have any plans. So we decided on brownies and ice cream at Greenfield would be good times.
Sunday, Father's Day, my extended family all got together to celebrate Father's Day, my birthday and my cousin Aaron's birthday. We had lots of fun at Mike and Laurel's house just talking and eating. We are really good at those two things as a family. It was funny though because we didn't hit the usual three staple topics of conversation at Evans family gatherings: medicine, politics, and religion. None the less it was a wonderful evening. That is definitely one of the perks of living down here, even though my own family doesn't live here I still get to have my extended family around.
The actual day of my birthday was much like any other day. I went to work where Lucy remembered that it was my birthday and told my co-workers. So at lunch Quanita, Lucy and I went to Shakey's Pizza for the buffet. This is also where we went for Lucy's birthday about 3 weeks ago. It was fun and nice just to get out of the clinic for lunch. But other than that the day went just like any regular old Tuesday. I came home and opened the package that my family had sent me. I think my favorite present was the football. It will now live in my car along with the tennis racket, tennis balls, beach towel, baseball glove and ball, and blanket. You never know when you will need those things. After going to Institute that night we headed over to Greenfield for a night of fun and food. Jessica and Sara were putting together scrumptious plates of brownies when I got there. And they got 5 kinds of ice cream. I think my favorite type was something like mint brownie ice cream. It was quite yummy. So thanks to all who came and helped me celebrate. And thanks to Jessica for organizing the fun.

Yes, the brownies were a HUGE success. They were so delightful. They were in my dreams last night too. I dream of brownies that good quite often.
